A scorching hot summer could see demand for electricity spike

Australia is expecting to see a demand for electricity to spike with scorching hot summer ahead of us.  There is an expectation that due to this, there is an increased risk of blackouts, and forced power outages across the country.

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has confirmed it’s using the costly contingency measures at its disposal; seeking contracts for additional supply (particularly in South Australia and Victoria).
